Companies Selected to Participate in the November 2008 Tour

3gsolar
3GSolar is a leading developer of solar energy using DSC (dye solar cell) photovoltaic technology with first applications for off-grid rural areas. DSC is a cost-effective alternative to silicon and thin film-based systems, providing an environmentally-friendly solution that produces electricity efficiently even in low light conditions.

Botanocap

Botanocap has developed a novel patented technology and process by which fragrant natural essential oils are micro-encapsulated for slow-release and increased efficacy such as insecticides, pesticides and disinfectants. On the basis of this technology platform, Botanocap develops environmentally friendly agricultural, household and veterinary products.

Canarious

Canarious is a developer of bio-monitoring devices, which use genetically-engineered live cells (bacteria) to detect the presence of toxic chemicals in the water. The company develops a low-cost, miniaturized detection devices for continuous-flow monitoring as well as for on-time samples. The company is utilizing the IP generated from a co-research of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv University. The goal is to replace the use of live animals such as fish and Daphnia in the water infrastructure, in order to enable faster detection time as well as a reduction in the operating cost of the system.

Cellera

CellEra’s mission is to dramatically reduce the cost of fuel cells and thereby finally unlock their potential for massive commercial penetration. The company is accordingly a first mover in disruptive Platinum-Free Membrane-based Fuel Cell technology (PFM-FC), which alleviates the need for Platinum as well other key material cost items in solid-state low-temperature fuel cells.

Cequesta

Cequesta Water (CW) is a young company focusing on wastewater treatment and recycling. Cequesta Water has developed innovative new solutions for sludge dewatering and wastewater treatment for a whole range of small production plants. Existing methods are either expensive, do not work, are un-automated, or require continual servicing and maintenance. Cequesta's solutions overcome all these major problems and have a wide and varied market.

Coriolis

Coriolis Wind develops a revolutionary utility scale wind energy system that challenges some of the basic paradigms in the industry.  The WindScreen system is an integrated multi rotor system optimally designed for medium and low class winds, and achieving electricity production cost that is 30% lower than existing wind turbines.  In addition, by using simple components and standard manufacturing techniques, Coriolis bypasses supply chain bottleneck, providing a 'Just in Time' advantage as well as a  cost advantage and ease of transportation and installation.

Ces

The C.E.S. solution provides the end-user with a complete, central electricity gateway. The C.E.S Smart Distribution Panel - Using advanced and reliable electrical switching and communication technology, the C.E.S solution manages the entire electricity network down to each single circuit in the premises from a single point. The C.E.S Smart Distribution Panel (CSDP) - An innovative electricity panel that enables suppliers and consumers to share the benefits of reduced energy consumption and save money. CES Monitoring & Control Software - In order to manage multiple CSDP installations the CES Monitoring & Control Software enables real-time management of and communication with groups of CES panels to provide status, power consumption, and costs. Energy solution providers such as electric utilities, energy retailers, and building managers can use the Monitoring and control software to improve efficiency, reduce peak demand, and offer value-added services.

Emefcy

Emefcy's MEGAWATTER™ platform is a commercial implementation of Microbial Fuel Cells (MFC) technology for direct electricity or hydrogen generation on a large scale, while using wastewater as fuel. This concept revolutionizes the energy and wastewater sectors by treating the organic materials dissolved in water as a source of energy. In many cases, the Company’s systems will not only offset the high energy needs of wastewater treatment, but will actually produce excess energy that can be fed into the grid on a constant baseload basis – the holy grail of distributed renewable energy. No less important to Emefcy’s customers is the reduced sludge that results from an MFC process – sludge which otherwise needs to be treated and/or removed in costly processes. In the majority of industrial wastewater streams (those with high organic matter and salinity) Emefcy's technology provides treatment solutions where very few cost-effective alternatives exist.

Hcl

HCL CleanTech has developed a proprietary technology for the complete recovery of HCL from aqueous solutions, enabling the use of the economically attractive use of the only industrially proven cellulosic ethanol method from the 1930’s. The same technology and other technologies developed by HCL CleanTech can solve the recovery of HCL and metals in a number of HCL dependent processes, such as in the fertilizer industry, the PVC industry and in Municipal Waste incineration and sewage conversions.

Metrolight

Metrolight is the world leader in energy efficient electronic high intensity discharge (HID) lighting solutions.  The company’s products save end users 40-65% of their lighting energy use while tremendously improving their quality of light, reducing their maintenance costs and offering a variety of control solutions.  On a global basis, HID fixtures consume approximately 6% of the total electricity produced. The company’s technology offers the potential to reduce worldwide energy use by 3% by replacing these with energy efficient electronic HID fixtures.  AICC recognized Metrolight with the Israeli Company of the Year award in 2008 for the southeast region.

Sovna

SOVNA is a vertically integrated firm leading the way in the urban renewable energy wind market. SOVNA installs vertical micro wind turbines atop high-rise buildings along the roof perimeter and integrate them into the building’s electrical structure. SOVNA has developed a unique and patented system to harvest wind in the city. Through proprietary knowledge and products SOVNA provide the planning, industry experience, equipment, installation, financial model, operations and maintenance for the entirety of our projects’ life cycle. SOVNA's wind farms are compatible with new construction and existing buildings; each having their own financial model. In both cases, the end user profits from zero capital investment and limits their price-exposure to fluctuating energy costs. The SOVNA proprietary design makes it possible to produce renewable wind energy “IN the City, FOR the City”.

Tigo

Tigo Energy provides a comprehensive hardware and software solution for maximizing the power output of existing PV solar products and installations. Tigo Energy’s solution is designed to be highly scalable, addressing the desires of homeowners, commercial enterprises, and utility scale power producers to produce more energy output from their PV solar projects without raising the up-front capital requirements.
